The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution is an exfoliating facial and water-based skin treatment that helps remove dead skin cells, improve the look of the skin, and fight visible blemishes.

It contains 30% alpha-hydroxy acids and 2% beta hydroxy acid, which are powerful exfoliating ingredients. It’s supported by hyaluronic acid crosspolymer, vitamin B5, black carrot, and Tasmanian pepper berry.

As you probably already know, exfoliation is the secret sauce of every skincare routine. If you want radiant skin, even skin tone, and a glowy skin texture, exfoliating is the essential step to include in your skincare routine.

Exfoliation is the process of removing dead skin cells using either a chemical or a granular substance. In this case, we’re talking about acid exfoliation since AHAs and BHAs are chemical exfoliants.

In case you didn’t know, your skin already naturally sheds and gets rid of dead skin cells to make room for new cells every 30 days, but sometimes it needs a little help from you to exfoliate effectively. That’s where this fantastic Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution comes in.

This rinse-off weekly treatment is perfect for experienced users of exfoliating acids that want to treat textural irregularities, skin dullness, and signs of congested pores.

Since this peel comes with a very high concentration of free acids, it’s not recommended to use if you’re new to chemical exfoliation or if you have sensitive skin.

The Ordinary Peeling Solution Benefits

The Ordinary Peeling Solution offers tremendous benefits to the skin. And it’s all thanks to alpha hydroxy acids and beta hydroxy acids. These two exfoliants combined are a game-changer for all skin types.

So, what is the secret of this effective peeling solution? Yes, you’ve guessed it. It’s AHAs and BHAs.

Both AHAs and BHAs help remove dead skin cells from the outer layer of the skin, allowing new, more evenly pigmented skin cells to generate. They are also knowns as anti-aging ingredients, as they effectively improve skin texture and reduce the appearance of fine lines.

The most popular AHAs to look for in a product are glycolic acid, lactic acid, citric acid, while BHAs are salicylic acid or related ingredients, such as salicylate and sodium salicylate.

They all help treat acne, even out the skin tone, reduce fine lines and wrinkles, remove dead skin cells, unclog pores, and enhance overall skin texture.

The difference between AHAs and BHAs is that AHAs are water-soluble acids made from sugary fruits, while BHAs are oil-soluble. Also, BHAs can penetrate deeper into the skin than AHAs.

My Review of The Ordinary Peeling Solution

Just like you’re here right now reading my review about The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution, I did exactly the same before trying it out. But, after reading countless reviews of my favorite beauty gurus, I decided to give it a try.

And since my skin is pretty standard – a little bit too oily sometimes – but not prone to irritation, all the buzzwords like peel, chemical, or acid didn’t quite scare me. However, I suggest you patch test first before applying this peel onto your face.

I washed my face and waited for it to dry as it’s not recommended to apply the product to wet skin. Then, once it was all dry, I applied a thin layer of it to my face and neck.

There was a slight tingling sensation on some parts of my face the first time I used it, but nothing serious. It’s not supposed to hurt, so if you do feel any pain when using it, I suggest you rinse it off immediately.

I left it on my face for 10 minutes, then rinsed it off with warm water and followed with a hydrating moisturizer.

And the world was never the same again!

I absolutely loveeeeed this product. It’s one of those products that makes you fall in love with skincare all over again.

What got me particularly excited about this peeling solution was that I could instantly see the brightening effects the first time I used it. And let’s be honest, not every product can do that for you.

On top of that, my skin got better and better with continued use. I noticed a brighter skin tone, fewer acne breakouts, and a noticeably radiant complexion. Honestly, I can never go back now because this product is a huge level up for my skincare regimen.

I do want to add a disclaimer here and say it’s absolutely crucial to limit sun exposure and apply SPF every single day to prevent sun damage. And yes, I do mean even when you’re inside the house the entire day. Chemical exfoliants can cause your skin to burn when exposed to UV light, so make sure you protect it.

Also, don’t use this product if you have sensitive or compromised skin. Instead, try a milder AHA such as lactic acid, for example.

The Ordinary brand has a great you can use as a starting point. It comes in a lower and higher concentration of lactic acid: The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + Hyaluronic Acid and The Ordinary Lactic Acid 10% + Hyaluronic Acid 2% Exfoliating Serum. I recently wrote a guide to The Ordinary Lactic Acid, so I suggest you have a look there too.

In the first week of usage, you will see the difference in your skin tone, firmness, and overall skin texture. After that, your skin will be firmer to the touch and smooth as butter.

Even though the effects are seen during the first week, you should still continue using the product for optimal results. Also, a lot of it depends on the condition of your skin. If you have problematic skin with many dark spots and textural irregularities, you may have to wait a little longer for this peeling solution to work.

The more you use this peel, the more you’ll notice its brightening effects. The best thing about The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution is that it makes the skin look noticeably healthier with continued use.

Is The Ordinary AHA BHA Safe?

The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution is a chemical peel which means its formula has a very high concentration of acids. Because of this strong formulation, this product is not safe for everyone.

It’s recommended to use it if you’re an experienced user of chemical peels and acids. But, stay away from these products if you have peeling, compromised, or sensitive skin because they may compromise your skin even more.

In case you’re not sure whether or not this product is suitable for your skin type, always patch test it before implementing it into your regular skincare routine.

Unfortunately, if you’re new to acids, this product is not for you. Newbies to chemical peels should start slowly. I recommend you try lower concentrations of acids first before going for this peeling solution.

Can You Use The Ordinary AHA BHA Every Day?

Just like with all acids and chemical peels, you should be careful about using The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution. Since this product has a high concentration of acids, it’s not recommended to use it daily.

Instead, you should use it no more than twice a week but pay close attention to how your skin reacts to it. If you notice any skin reaction or irritation, cease use immediately and consult a dermatologist.

The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution should be a part of your weekly skin care routine as a rinse-off solution before other creams and moisturizers.

I suggest you do a patch test of this product before implementing it into your regimen. It’s very important you’re entirely sure it works well for your skin.

Another essential tip is always to apply sun protection when using this powerful peeling solution, even a few weeks after you finish using it as a regular part of your skin care routine.

Final Thoughts

If you’re looking for a groundbreaking product that will transform your skin, I think this is the product to try. It’s got everything you want from a skincare product – AHAs, BHAs, and a crosspolymer form of hyaluronic acid. What more can a skincare lover ask for?

The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution is a phenomenal exfoliating facial that offers unparalleled benefits to the skin.

But you won’t believe it until you see it yourself. Given that the price is pretty affordable, there’s no reason to shy away.

Again, if your skin is sensitive or compromised in any way, you may want to steer clear of acids and chemical exfoliators. Similarly, if you’re a skincare newbie, this product may not be for you, so take it one step at a time by trying smaller concentrations first.

All things considered, The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution is a must try, and it deserves the hype it gets.
